Review Fix Exclusive: House Handshake Talk New EP And More

Review Fix chats with House Handshake’s Quinton Poitras, Sarah Greco, Darrell Anderson, Tanner Link, Brennan Saul and Tate Hiebert, who discuss the band’s origin, goals and upcoming EP, “Handshake.”

Review Fix: How did the project start?

House Handshake: We started as a house of musicians near Vancouver Canada. Sarah and Quinton we’re the first pieces but when Darrell moved in across the hall everything just clicked and we knew what we wanted to do. Something inside us told us to pack up and go back home to Winnipeg. So we did. After a few months of staying at parents place we found a house in centre of the city and by 2018 we launched House Handshake.

Review Fix: What’s your creative process like?

House Handshake: We believe that music is about the now so usually when we are writing something it’s just a jam. We throw a lot of tunes away it’s just part of any healthy jam. The lyrics are set in place by an idea and they’re written down at another time. But all the melodies and the feelings are first jammed out and felt.

Review Fix: What’s your standout song? How was it written?

House Handshake: Procrastination is a big one of ours. It was written whilst procrastinating. Quinton was doing a big job and he had all week to do it. He had it all done in the last 2 nights. He also wrote this tune in the other 5 days by jamming obsessively.

Review Fix: What are your goals for 2019?

House Handshake: We’re working towards a full album release probably early 2020 but in 2019 we are going to release out second EP ‘Handshake’. We just released ‘House’ in February you can find it everywhere digitally (Spotify, Itunes, Google Play, etc.)

Review Fix: How do you want your music to affect people?

House Handshake: We want to inspire people to be better. We want the music to cause some sort of self reflection and allow them to grow and let go.

Review Fix: What’s next?

House Handshake: Keep up with us on our social media like facebook and Instagram we have some exciting news coming up.
