Review Fix Exclusive: Sue’s Eliot Stone Talks ‘Gotta, Gotta, Gotta’ And More

Review Fix chats with Sue’s Elliot Stone, who details the band’s origin, creative process, goals and more.

Review Fix: How did the project start?

Elliot Stone: I started SUE in September 2016, making shitty demos in my Dads music room. I wanted to make something raw, scratchy and distorted. After a couple of months I went looking for a band, I found Ashley (guitar) straight away, and after cycling through a couple line ups Euan (drums) and Harry (bass) joined in 2018.

Review Fix: What’s your creative process like?

Stone: I start working on my guitar, once I’ve got a song structure down I get the lyrics done. Then I take the song to the band and we work it our until it sounds like something coherent.

Review Fix: What’s your standout song? How was it written?

Stone: Personally I really like ‘Gotta Gotta Gotta’, when it kicks off it doesn’t let up until it’s over. I wrote the song in stages, I had the lyrics floating around for awhile and when I came up with the chords I knew they were perfect for each other.

Review Fix: What are your goals for 2019?

Stone: Well we put out our debut album on the 1st May which was great; now we’re looking for more shows and promoting the record as much as we can.

Review Fix: How do you want your music to affect people?

Stone: Making them want to dance and sing along would be great, if it makes them think that would cool too.

Review Fix: What’s next?

Stone: Keeping on going and hope for the best, all we can do really.
