Review Fix chats with singer/songwriter Beea, who lets us know why he new video and single, “Permission,” is a special one.

Review Fix: How did you get involved in music?

Beea: My dad is also a professional musician.  I was born in a house where there was music 24 hours a day. Rehearsals, serenades, gigs, productions; all of these were very common in my house on the weekdays, always frequented by countless friends and fellow musicians of my father.

On the weekends, they played shows all over the region. I’ve been lucky enough to be able to participate in all this since when I was a baby.

My mother accompanied my father on almost every show, and always took the three daughters with her. I fell in love with my father’s work at 5 years old and since then I always knew that this was my mission in the world.

Review Fix: Why is “Permission” an important song for you?

Beea: “Permission” is the opportunity to use my art for what I believe needs to be changed. It holds a message of empowerment, and this is a banner I will always carry.

Review Fix: What was it like to work with Kyndra Kennedy on the video?

Beea: Kyndra is extremely intelligent, but she is also passionate about her job. She is fantastic! I am extremely fond of her work, and having had the opportunity to have her direct a video of mine, is very gratifying. We had two full days of shooting on “Permission,” and Kyndra showed exceptional professionalism, most of all, exceptional talent! Wonderful experience and I definitely plan to work with her in a lot of future projects.

Review Fix: Why is this video a special one for you?

Beea: Because it says a lot about what’s happening right now regarding to women’s rights, and as I always say, this is my cause. Using my music to raise a voice on something I believe is my full time job.

Review Fix: What makes your sound unique?

Beea: I don’t know if my sound is unique. I just enjoy the process of making music and performing.

Review Fix: Give me an artist you love, but people wouldn’t expect when they hear you?

Beea: I love Flamenco music and operas, especially Italian ones. I am also a big fan of EDM. I am fascinated by the creative process of making EDM.

Review Fix: Goals in music?

Beea: Music is my journey, not my destination. The only goal is to keep making music for the rest of my life and always have fun in the process. Everything else is a bonus!

Review Fix: What’s next?

Beea: For 2019, I will release a few singles in the next few months and also a holiday EP with some Christmas songs. Next year I want to perform live and tour as much as possible in America, Europe and Brazil!

As much as I love making and recording music, live performances will always be my favorite way of connecting with music because it always brings me back to my origins and the reason I started making music in first place.
