AEW: Full Gear Results: Cody Got Screwed

The levels of hype for AEW’s first Pay-Per-View since the debut of Dynamite was astronomical. The stakes couldn’t be higher, and the card more stacked. It was a night of shock and awe and will go down as one of the most memorable AEW Pay-Per-Views ever.

Matches:

The Young Bucks: Nick and Matt Jackson vs. Proud n Powerful: Santana and Ortiz: PnP scored the biggest win of their career when they pinned Nick Jackson with the Street Sweeper. After the match, Sammy Guevara came out to assist Proud n Powerful in beating down the Bucks, but the Rock n Roll Express made the save.

“The Bastard” PAC vs. “Hangman” Adam Page: The Bastard went for a low blow to pick up a dirty win, but Page had it scouted. He countered with Deadeye to hand PAC his first loss in AEW.

“The Chairman” Shawn Spears w/ Tully Blanchard vs. “The Bad Boy” Joey Janela: An Assisted Pile Driver with Blanchard and a C4 made sure the Bad Boy couldn’t get his shoulder up for the three-count.

AEW Tag Team Championship Three-Way Match: Private Party: Marq Quen and Isiah Kassidy vs. The Lucha Bros: Rey Fenix and Pentagon Jr. vs. The AEW Tag Team Champions: SoCal Uncensored: Frankie Kazarian and Scorpio Sky: Private Party set up for Gin and Juice after a Shooting Star Press from Quen, but SCU saw it coming and answered with SCU Later. The Lucha Bros tried to jump the two other teams after the bell until Christopher Daniels made his return and dropped the Luchadores with Angel’s Wings.

AEW Women’s World Championship Match: Emi Sakura vs. the AEW Women’s World Champion: Riho: The Champ retained her title with a Roll-Up but not without taking the beating of a lifetime from her Sensei.

AEW World Championship Match: “The American Nightmare” Cody w/ Maxwell Jacob Friedman vs. the AEW World Champion: Chris Jericho w/ “The Big Hurt” Jake Hager: After nearly 45 minutes of war, MJF had to throw in the towel to save his mentor while Jericho had him in a Lion Tamer. Cody will never challenge for the AEW World Title again. To the surprise of no one, MJF hit Cody with a low blow to add insult to injury, becoming the most hated heel in the business in the process.

Lights Out Match: Jon Moxley vs. Kenny Omega: The only way to describe the match is pure brutality. Barbed wire, broken glass, mouse traps; it was hard to watch at times. It was one hell of a battle but in the end, Mox put Omega down with a Death Rider onto the exposed pine of the squared circle.
