Review Fix Exclusive: Slater’s Harry Slater Talks Goals and Origin in Music And More

Review Fix chats with Slater’s guitarist and vocalist Harry Slater, who discusses the band’s origin, goals and creative process.

About Slater:

For fans of Catfish and the Bottlemen & Led Zeppelin, formed in 2019 Slater are the brand new hard hitting, rock n’ roll band from London. With killer songs and energetic live shows. you’ll see for yourself why guitarist Harry Slater has been hailed as a ‘Guitar Virtuoso’ by Planet Rock Radio.

Slater is completed by a driving rhythm section, with melodic bass lines and powerful drums, gelling together to produce one of the most iconic sounds and exciting acts in London currently.

Review Fix: How did you get involved in  music?

Harry Slater: I always remember hearing great songs in movies. I’d ask my dad what they were and he’d hand me a cd. Would spend my days listening to these CDs on repeat!

Review Fix: What’s your creative process like?

Slater: My creative process is built on both love and hate. I have to get my head in the right space to sit and write. It can take anything from minutes, to months to write a song. So keeping my head in that space is challenging, but SO rewarding when you churn out a belter.

Review Fix: What inspires you?

Slater: Other people inspire me. Listening to music, chatting to people, being outside feeling the air and smelling life around you inspires me. At the ripe old age of 23 I find most inspiration coming from life experiences.

Review Fix: How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard  you?

Slater: We are straight up, no nonsense hard hitting indie rock and roll.

Review Fix: How are your live shows different from your studio work?

Slater: There’s less time live. Everything is in the moment. Mistakes, tripping over your feet, hair in your eyes… it’s all part of the live thing. That connection with the audience is what makes us love live music

Review Fix: What inspired your latest single?

Slater: I was 19 when I wrote I Don’t Mind. I think it was the beginning of understanding problems in the world. So maybe writing a song that boasts your lack of caring the world falling apart around you! I wanted a catchy, feel good song.

Review Fix: What are your goals for the rest of 2019?

Slater: Get super famous and buy us a helicopter to tour the world.

Review Fix: What’s next?

Slater: Aside from touring in our helicopter… we have some more music we want to share, a very sweet sounding UK tour coming up next year, but most importantly we have a real good show on December 13th at 93 Feet East London!

Review Fix: Anything else you’d like to add?

Slater: Thank you anybody reading, anybody listening, anyone who’s seen us or might see our shows! Means the world to get to play music. That’s all folks.
