Review Fix Exclusive: Manuel Aspidi Talks Goals for 2020 And More

Review Fix chats with Singer/Songwriter Manuel Aspidi, who details his creative process and goals for 2020.

Review Fix: How did you get involved in music?

Manuel Aspidi: Music has always been part of me. I remember that at the age of six I started singing Walt Disney songs, which at the same time became real hits for me, until I discovered another song that could replace the one I had in mind. Music has grown with me is an indispensable part of my life that makes me complete.

Review Fix: What’s your creative process like?

Aspidi: When the songs are sent to me the first thing I do is try to listen to the feelings and emotions that the song arouses in me. If I perceive vibrations and am excited then it is the right one, otherwise we proceed to search for new ones.

Review Fix: What inspires you?

Aspidi: I love soul music, I grew up listening to Stevie Wonder, Whitney Houston, and gospel music, and my faith is definitely a point of inspiration and strength.

Review Fix: How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard you?

Aspidi: I would ask you to close your eyes and try to imagine a violin playing, sometimes sharp and nostalgic, sometimes medium high and soothing

Review Fix: How are your live shows different from your studio work?

Aspidi: In the studio the work is certainly different, there is an analysis of the lyrics, a listening to the sounds and the musical track, next to me I have the artistic direction that works by my side with which we try to realize in more recordings what people will go to listen in a goose session. Live the emotion and the impact is definitely stronger, both vocally because there are so many songs to sing and in an evening and because I don’t want to disappoint the expectations of my fans, who are there to listen to me, but the main thing I want is that they feel at home because if I do all this it is only thanks to their affection and support.

Review Fix: What inspired your latest single?

Aspidi: The last single was written by a great author Julian Hinton who held the song in his drawer for 20 years waiting for the right moment and the right person to give this song (Let out this light) being for him a very important trace to which he was also very fond of. When Julian made me listen to the piece, I immediately fell in love with it because it describes a feeling as strong as love, but not exclusively the classic love between men and women, but that love that is our light that gives us the strength to be able to leave the darkness that afflicts us.

Review Fix: What are your goals for the rest of 2019?

Aspidi: Make a new song by listening to more songs for my new EP, try with my musicians for the first date of my tour, come to America to perform and get to know the people who are writing to me and who have written to me using me, the song and my voice beautiful words. I have always loved America since I was a child, I grew up with American people and they passed on to me some of their traditions like Halloween, which I have been celebrating since I was a child, thanksgiving and more … I remember when I was with them they always asked me to sing during their parties, but now I find myself singing around the world and my voice has reached such an important ranking are indescribable emotions.

Review Fix: What’s next?

Aspidi: For the next song, my staff and I are listening to the songs they are forwarding to production. Surely the right piece will come out.

Review Fix: Anything else you’d like to add?

Aspidi: Just a heartfelt thank you, starting from my record label (Thomas music and Art) that believed and believes in me, my family that has always supported me, and all the wonderful people that this work brings me to meet and with which then start wonderful collaborations, and thanks to my fans without whom I would be nothing.
