DocFell & Co. – Fragile Review: Personal

Everyone struggles. There are things that we simply can’t help at the end of the day, as only so much time exists within it. DocFell & Co.’s latest, Fragile, is a track that uses its country charm to evoke a strong feeling. It is a personal track, giving us a look into the heart and mind of John Fell. The track is a heartfelt one, with a country aesthetic that shines on its western inspiration.

The track has a mellow waviness to it. From the guitar to the bass, the instrumental is emotional and evocative of its country roots. The rambling beat is complemented by the deep bass strumming that permeates throughout the track which adds a splash of personality to it. The vocal performance is powerful and somber, with vocalist John Fell putting his emotions out in the open. Lines such as “Some days you’re the sickness and other days you’re their cure. I used to have the answers and now I’m just unsure” are powerful and evocative of his feelings. With each line he sings you can feel the emotion pour from it. The takes on a bluesy feel at times, which only adds its charm.

Fragile is one of the more personal tracks we have heard from DocFell & Co. The instrumentals are solid and evoke an inspired country aesthetic, whether it be the cradling bass or the wailing guitars, the musicianship of the band is on full display here. The emotional vocals of John Fell are powerful and lyrics are personal, giving the track a unique feeling amongst most of the others we have heard thus far. If you are a fan of DocFell & Co., don’t let this track pass you by. For everyone else, give it a shot. It might be just for you.
