Sprockets- SELF MADE EP Review: High-Octane Discovery

It can be tough to find a sound that expresses how you feel in music. Some find it easily, others never do, but inspiration is a powerful tool for a musician. The Sprockets latest EP, SELF MADE, perfectly illustrates this struggle. While rocky at first, from it comes a lasting impression that will leave you wanting more.

The opening track, “SELF-MADE” is a high-energy track with some memorable guitar licks and great percussions. The track following, “Grafitti (feat. Jesse Lawson)” is another high-octane track that really explodes towards the end, with the final chorus hitting harder than the rest.

The two stand-out tracks, however, are at the end. The vocals are front and center on “Neon Alley.” The raspy cries are full of emotion and the acoustic intro and does well to frame it as the track kicks into overdrive. “Bring me home on crimson roads, I’ll carry the tone” is just one of the lines of the memorable chorus you’ll find yourself singing.

“Romantic As Hell” track pulls the metal out with the double-bass drums to give the track an undeniable pulse. The rhythmic guitars never overstay their welcome and always feel on-point with their change-ups. The guitar solo also kicks ass, wailing with authority as it climbs high before allowing the vocals to re-enter to close the EP out.

SELF-MADE is a solid EP with some fun moments. The final two tracks really show off what Sprockets can do, especially “Neon Alley.” When Sprockets decide to go heavy and explode they can do so without effort which always gives the track the punch it needs. Any rock fan will enjoy a few tracks off of SELF-MADE.
