Cape Nowhere – The Chamber Echoes Review: Inspired Indie Rock

Of all prolific genres of Rock and Roll, Indie Rock is one whose achievements are the most fresh in our minds. From bands of today such as Tame Impala to the greats of yesteryear such as The Arcade Fire or The Strokes, some of the most prolific sounds in the genre today have roots from the Indie scene. Cape Nowhere’s latest preview tracks from their upcoming album “The Chamber Echoes” are inspired indie songs that echo some of the best elements of the genre.

“Winter in the North,” a slower track with a dreamy aesthetic. The echoes of the guitar are dreamy in the intro and lead into a rhythmic serenity as the bass and drums enter in. The tapping of the cymbals adds to this otherworldly quality as the soft vocals seem to caress the instrumentals, who dance with them as they fade in and out. The track is reminiscent of the more popular Death Cab for Cutie aesthetic, but with a wavier aesthetic and an emphasis on the atmosphere it creates.

“Puzzlebox” is a track with a quicker pace. The plucks of the guitar are cradled by the bass groove that guides your ears as it rides, with the percussion adding splashes of life and keeping the tempo fast. The guitar solo at about the 3 minute mark is fantastic and adds a different dimension to the track. The transformative nature is impressive and gives the track a fun personality.  “I fill myself with the silence that breathes in empty rooms. Until my cup is brimming I’ll stay in the everyday” is a catchy chorus and just a taste of the memorable lines you will catch yourself singing along to after multiple listens.

“The Chamber Echoes” preview are love letters to the fan of indie rock. The eclectic blend of soft vocal performances mixed with solid and atmospheric instrumentals gives Cape Nowhere the same quality of past indie rock icons such as Death Cab For Cutie or Snow Patrol. The two tracks are distinct with their own feel and personality which leaves a good impression when looking forward to the full release of the album. If you are an indie rock fan, young or old, you owe it to yourself to give these tracks a listen and make room on your playlist for these fantastic tracks.
