NXT Coverage: Lumis Going to Takeover

Karrion Kross wants the NXT Title, the NXT Women’s Title field is deeper than ever and Mercedes Martinez is not playing around. Add in a solid triple threat match and this was an excellent week of NXT action that lacked storytelling but made up for it with fun in-ring work.

Matches:

Tegan Nox and NXT Women’s Champion Io Shirai vs. Dakota Kai and Candice LeRae: This was a physical one that saw Shirai get the win with the Moonsault, but all four competitors tore it up in what had the potential of being the best match of the night.

Johnny Gargano vs. Roderick Strong: This has the potential to be a wonderful feud as the two heels played it clea and Gargano won with the The Final Beat DDT.

Shotzi Blackheart vs. Mercedes Martinez w/Robert Stone: This was a short one but Martinez dominated and got the win.

NXT Tag Team Champions: Imperium Fabian Aichner and Marcel Barthel vs. Ever-Rise: Chase Parker and Matt Martel: A short squash by the champs, who were then mauled by Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly.

Isaiah Scott vs. Jake Atlas: Scott won with the JML Driver in an excellent match that highlights the Cruiserweight Division.

Finn Balor vs. Dexter Lumis vs. Timothy Thatcher: This was a fun one, but one that didn’t tell as much a story as it could have. Lumis got the win with the Choke to advance to the Takeover North American Title Match.
