Review Fix Exclusive: Josey Wade Stines Talks Goals And More

Review Fix chats with Chasing Apparitions’ Josey Wade Stines – Guitarist // Vocalist, who discusses the band’s origins and goals for the future.

Review Fix: How did the project start?

Josey Wade Stines: After a 3-year hiatus, I met Jacob Ortengren on social media & we both discussed working together on an EP. Once we finished the EP instrumentally we began auditioning for vocalists. It wasn’t until our producer, Jonathan Dolese, mentioned that he knew Justin Stubbs that Chasing Apparitions became complete again.

Review Fix: What’s your creative process like?

Stines: Typically Jacob & I will work together to get the instrumentals as perfect as we possibly can & then when that’s done I’ll send the final version to Justin & him & I will begin discussing where we should go lyrically & what elements we want to bring to light in our music.

Review Fix: What’s your standout song? How was it written?

Stines: Our stand out song currently is “As Above, So Below”. That song was the first one written for the new EP, “Am I Worth Saving?” I had recently been jamming a lot of djenty bands & I really wanted to write something in that vein. I had pierced together a few riffs, but I didn’t really know how to transcribe my thoughts into tabs. Fast forward to me meeting Jacob & he just completed the puzzle. This EP is the product on constantly sending files back & forth.

Review Fix: What are your goals for 2020?

Stines: Our new EP “Am I Worth Saving?” comes out in the fall & I’d love for it to break 50k streams on streaming platforms. In the winter of this year we’re going to the studio to record our next EP so I’d love to have that finished.

Review Fix: How do you want your music to affect people?

Stines: I want people to understand that it’s okay to be mad or sad at the current state of the world. It’s okay to question everything in your life. You need to embrace the bad times so you know what the good times feel like. No one is going to be happy all the time.

Review Fix: What’s next?

Stines: Currently we have a new single coming out on 8.7.2020. Shortly after our sophomore EP will be released so make sure to follow us on all of our socials to you know exactly when it drops. In the winter we’re headed back to the studio so we can get the next EP done so we have something fresh for next year. Expect a lot of music from Chasing Apparitions.
