Vampblade #46 Review: Promising

Comics fans are used to seeing comic publishers doing stories where they put all of their characters into one massive battle against a great foe. “DC” and “Marvel” have been doing it for decades. “Action Lab Comics” is doing just that with the release of “Vampblade #46” by Jason Martin and artist Marco Maccagni.

During the invasion of the Glarkians, The” Danger Doll Squad” is not only fending them off, but are also looking for Vampblade. On top of the Zombie Tramp, who is supposed to be dead in this universe, has appeared causing even more confusion.

All of this confusion could lead to an interesting story if done properly.. It is an interesting idea to see Vampblade and Zombie Tramp interact with each other. There is a lot of craziness that can happen and Martin is the person who can do that.

Of course, this can also be a case of put every character together into one giant battle and see if it works. Martin might be able to edge out a great story with this plot, but that remains to be seen given how massive these stories can be.

Maccagni delivers on the art. It seems like the artwork for this series has greatly improved. Zombie Tramp looks the best she has ever been and the other characters are also designed nicely. The only downfall is the Glarkians’ design leaves a lot to be desired. They look like the typical Xenomorph design used when you need to drawn evil aliens.
“Vampblade #46” shows plenty of promise with an interesting premise and great art. However, there are still plenty of ways that this story could become just another generic great war story if Martin isn’t careful. Of course, there is also a chance that this can be great with tons of humor knowing how other stories in this series have been.
