AEW Dynamite Results: FTR Ridin’ High

Dynamite has yet to return to its usual Wednesday night time slot thanks to the NBA Playoffs. Nevertheless, this week is special. For the first time since the pandemic hit, fants were allowed to attend the event, albeit with limited capacity. But it’s a slice of normalcy, and AEW delivered a great show to send the crowd home happy.

Matches: 

Tag Team Championship Number One Contender’s Gauntlet Match: The Young Bucks: Nick and Matt Jackson vs. The Natural Nightmares: QT Marshall and “The Natural” Dustin Rhodes w/ Allie: The Bucks isolated Marshall and delivered the BTE Trigger to advance in the gauntlet.

Tag Team Championship Number One Contender’s Gauntlet Match: The Young Bucks: Nick and Matt Jackson vs. Best Friends: Trent and Chuck Taylor: Trent reversed a Meltzer Driver attempt with a Victory Roll and Adam Page came out of nowhere to stop Nick from breaking up the pin. Best Friends move on. 

Tag Team Championship Number One Contender’s Gauntlet Match: Best Friends: Trent and Chuck Taylor vs. FTR: Dax Hardwood and Cash Wheeler w/ Tully Blanchard: Taylor tweaked his knee against the Bucks and FTR gladly targeted it. Hardwood forced him to tap with a Kneebar to win the Gauntlet. It’s FTR vs. Omega and Page at All Out.

“The Murderhawk Monster” Lance Archer w/ Jake “The Snake” Roberts vs. Sean Maluta: Maluta tried to take the fight to Archer and paid dearly. Archer stood there and smiled while the Samoan chopped him a few times. Maluta was allowed to lose after a Blackout and the EBD Claw. After the bell, Roberts grabbed a mic but was interrupted by Taz and his crew. Darby Allin came out of nowhere to brawl with Ricky Starks to the back. 

The Lucha Bros: Pentagon Jr. and Rey Fenix and the Butcher and the Blade w/ Eddie Kingston vs. “The Bad Boy” Joey Janela, Sonny Kiss, Brian Pillman Jr., and Griff Garrison: BnB were able to catch Pillman alone and hit a Powerbomb/ Neckbreaker combo and fed him to Lucha Bros who followed up with a Double Stomp Piledriver for the win. 

Handicap Match: Big Swole vs. Penelope Ford w/ “Superbad” Kip Sabian and Rebel w/ Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D.: Rebel accidentally caught Ford in the face with Baker’s crutch and Swole took the opportunity to cover her and steal the win. Swole gets the good doctor whenever and however she wants. 

Tables Match: Matt Hardy vs. Sammy Guevara: Hardy was on shaky legs and couldn’t make it to the top rope to put his opponent through the table. Guevara recovered and Superplexed him through the wood to score the win. After The bell, Orange Cassidy jumped Jericho who was on commentary.
