NXT Coverage: Fireballs?

The return of The Velveteen Dream and some quality in-ring work couldn’t save NXT this week. It was flat. Fireballs? Really? Is the RAW writing team now on NXT?

Matches:

Karrion Kross w/Scarlett vs. Danny Burch: Kross won with the Kross Jacket and after the match, NXT Champion Keith Lee demanded Kross sign a contract for a match at Takeover. Upon signing, Lee was greeted with a “fireball” and rushed to the hospital.

Killian Dain vs. Drake Maverick: A no-contest as The Undisputed Era hit the ring and Adam Cole told Pat McAfee he “could not last” in Cole’s world.

WWE Cruiserweight Champion Santos Escobar vs. Tyler Breeze: Escobar won with the Phantom Driver and then he, Joaquin Wilde and Raul Mendoza beat on Breeze and an injured Fandango before Isaiah “Swerve” Scott made the save.

Mia Yim vs. Indi Hartwell: Yim won by Submission, but seemed more focused on Dakota Kai’s pre-taped interview.

Damian Priest vs. Bronson Reed: Priest couldn’t put Reed away with the Falcon’s Arrow and Reed stacked him up for the pinning combination.

Mercedes Martinez and Aliyah w/Robert Stone vs. Kacy Catanzaro and Kayden Carter: Martinez earned the win with the Air Raid Crash. After the match Rhea Ripley attacked Martinez.

NXT North American Championship Qualifier: Kushida vs. Cameron Grimes vs. Velveteen Dream: Best match of the night but one that saw Grimes steal the win with a Double Cave-In.

After the match, Dream was livid and stared down Finn Balor.
