Review Fix Exclusive: Betty Harper Talks ‘Blood is Thicker Than Alcohol’ And More

Review Fix chats with singer/songwriter Betty Harper to find out all about her creative process and more.

Review Fix: How did the project start?

Betty Harper: I was feeling really gloomy one night and decided to do what I do best and that is to write a song! The outcome resulted in this and I couldn’t be happier about it!

Review Fix: What’s your creative process like?

Harper: Whenever I’m feeling down, motivated or I just feel the need to write a song, I instantly pick up a pen. It’s so important for me to write a song whenever I feel the need to because that’s when songs like Blood is Thicker Than Alcohol are produced. The inspiration isn’t necessarily my surroundings, it’s more of a feeling. I know when I need to write a song, and when I do, my full feelings get written on that piece of paper.

Review Fix: What’s your standout song? How was it written?

Harper: My standout song would either be Blood is Thicker Than Alcohol or a song that will be out soon! Blood is Thicker Than Alcohol was written when I was feeling helpless, I wanted to write an amazing song that would help not only me but also other people who are either in the situation or are on the sidelines like me.

Review Fix: What are your goals for 2021?

Harper: My main goal is to try and feel more motivated throughout the year, be more happy and try to be more positive no matter what life throws my way. That’s really important to me.

Review Fix: How do you want your music to affect people?

Harper: I want to give people music that they can relate to in one way or another, and try to help those people through music. I think there’s a story that comes with each song and people can use that and interpret that in their own way, however they want.

Review Fix: What’s next?

Harper: Well, we have another 3 songs being released this year, so right now I’m trying to think of ways of getting to people and working on the growth of my social media pages!
