Review Fix Exclusive: Heavyweight Champ at ONE Champion Arjan Dangal Talks WWE Aspirations And More

By Patrick Hickey Jr.

Review Fix chats with Heavyweight Champ at ONE Champions, Arjan Dangal, the first Indian mixed martial artist champion in the world, who discusses his love of the WWE and professional wrestling, as well as what’s next.

Review Fix: How long have you watched wrestling?

Arjan Dangal: I’ve watched wrestling my entire life! Since I was a little kid up until now. Been a huge fan and I had the action figures and figurines and all that  kind of stuff. I’ve tried the moves myself on others, so yes, I’ve been a fan for a long long time!

Review Fix: Who are your favorite performers? Why?

Dangal: My favourite performers go down the line from The Warrior with his energy, Hogan, Savage and guys like Iron Sheik coming to Big Boss Man. Million Dollar Man was fun. HBK but best is Bret Hart. Best there was, there is, best there ever will be.

Review Fix: Where do you think you’d fit in current WWE?

Dangal: I’d fit it right at the top in the current WWE. They need new faces with fresh ideas and a new brand. I am that.  There’s no one who’s ever been like me in the company. I’m the real deal – Olympic Wrestler, MMA World Champion, The God of Wrestler, there is no one like me.

Review Fix: What would your in-ring style be like?

Dangal: My in-ring style would be a mix of MMA and power moves. The first guy who ever came through that was active I would say is Ken Shamrock, and he’s done well. So, I would say MMA-style and power moves.

Review Fix: What’s your favorite WWE finisher? What do you think yours would be?

Dangal: Favorite finisher, always been a fan of the “Sharpshooter,” power moves like “Powerbombs.” I would say those are my all-time favorite finishers. I will select Chris Benoit’s “Crippler Crossface.” That was cool. Shamrock’s “Ankle Lock” to counter Kurt Angle’s. I liked all of them.

Review Fix: What have you learned about the WWE from Jinder  Mahal?

Dangal: What I’ve learned from Jinder is that you have to give it your all. His first score round, he took it for granted, he was cut. He came back and gave it everything and he made it straight to the top. One is that, but more importantly about, WWE is that Vince is the man, everything still goes through Vinny Mac!

Review Fix: How do you feel going into your next fight?

Dangal: My mentality going into any fight is always the same, even now that I am a world champion. I’m always hungry. I’m a world champion only once, I can go and be a two-timer. So I’m going to be just as hungry. That belt stays with me forever, the one I won, and the next one is going to be a new one, just like the first one was. So, anything I can do to go get it.

Review Fix: What are your goals for the rest of the year?

Dangal: Goals for the rest of the year – to defend the MMA title but first to go get me a pro-wrestling title.

Review Fix: What else is next?

Dangal: What else is next is a tour. I’m going to go on tour and meet my community – my Indian community and as COVID starts relaxing I gotta take the belt and connect with the people because I am a champion of the people and a man of the people. So, I’ll be in different countries and territories moving forward.

Review Fix: Anything else you’d like to add?

Dangal: Thank you for all the support abroad and all over the world. We are just getting started here so keep supporting Team Bhullar. One billion strong!

Review Fix: Where can people go to find out more about you?

Dangal: People can follow me on Instagram @theonearjansinghbhullar, Facebook at Arjan Singh Bhullar and on Twitter @TheOneASB
