Review Fix Exclusive: Robert Minott Talks ‘Can’t Hold Back’ And More

Review Fix chats with singer/songwriter Rbert Minott, who discusses his lengthy career in music and new single, Can’t Hold Back.

Review Fix: How did you get involved in music?

Robert Minott: Music chose me. Music was something that was meant for me. I was just a kid doing what normal kids do, under the guidance of my grandparents. Everything changed when I went to bed one night and had a vision of me performing live on this big stage with bright lights.

Review Fix: How have the 30 years in music felt to you? Did it all go by too fast or was it more a journey?

Minott: I love music so much, time was never a factor because I actually get a thrill out of making music on a daily basis. It’s like food to my mouth.

Review Fix: Atlanta and Jamaica- how do they find a way into work?

Minott: Atlanta- Jamaica, how do they find a way into work:? Well! Life is a journey which takes me to different places and expose me to different things, so there‘s  no limit to what one can accomplish if you put your mind to it. Being built for something you have no choice but to go and get it. Simple.

Review Fix: What’s your creative process like? How has it changed over the years?

Minott: Creative process; I enjoy shadow boxing which helps to clear my mind and put me in a better head space to write. Over the years, I’ve challenged myself to be better each time.

Review Fix: What inspires you?

Minott: My inspiration comes naturally from different places People and everyday life experiences At times it’s just a natural vibe that comes from unknown places. I never planned on anything musically.  As Bob Marley said, “there’s a natural mystic blowing through the air”.  It feels that way at times.

Review Fix: What does music mean to you now?

Minott: What does music means to me now; I eat, sleep and breathe music! Music elevates me and lifts my spirit. Music is my medicine.

Review Fix: How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard you?

Minott: My sounds; Reggae fusion, musical gumbo . Just think about New Orleans La. .

Review Fix: How are your live shows different from your studio work? Are you getting excited to perform live again?

Minott: That’s the fun part of music. I get to showcase my music in front of the world for my fans, live in person and get to show them how much I appreciate them and enjoys performing for them.

Review Fix: What inspired your latest single?

Minott: My inspiration is built on love at first sight and instant attraction to a special person and decided to pursue out of sheer determination of not giving up.

Review Fix: What are your goals for the rest of 2021? 

Minott: To be spiritually, mentally, musically and financially fulfilled .

Review Fix: What’s next?

Minott: To continue making great music for the rest of my life.

Review Fix: Anything else you’d like to add?

Minott: I would love to see the day when everyone in the world comes together as one because we’re all one  big family.
