NXT Coverage: Ending 2021 With a Few Surprises

A slew of matches and preparation for New Year’s Evil made this week’s NXT solid in spite of a few changes in the card. With AJ Styles and Riddle on the show for a spell, NXT has some added star power.

Grayson Waller vs. Odyssey Jones: Waller got the win with the Cutter variation and then got a match with AJ Styles for New Years Evil.

Harland vs. Andre Chase: Harland never fought Brian Kendrick and Chase got beat on until the referee stopped it.

Tiffany Stratton vs. Fallon Henley: The debut of Stratton was an uneven won as the rookie won with a Reverse STO, but never looked comfortable in the ring.

Santos Escobar vs. Solo Sikoa: Interference from Xyon Quinn allowed Sikoa to get the win with a Super Kick and Splash, but Boa beat on him after the bell.

Von Wagner vs. Mailk Blade: Blade hung in there, but Wagner won with the Double Underhook Variation.

NXT Title #1 Contender’s Match: Cora Jade and Raquel Gonzalez vs. Io Shirai and Kay Lee Ray: Gonzalez did the heavy lifting but Jade was able to Rollup Ray for the win for their team to earn they shots at Mandy Rose at New Year’s Evil.
