Judd Harris – “Take Me Down” Single Review: The Perfect Beach Getaway

Some songs have the power to transport you to another world. The way a musician crafts a song can enchant you, pulling your mind into realms of emotion such as comforting relaxation. Judd Harris brings such craftsmanship to his latest single “Take Me Down” off of his summer-ready EP release, The Beach. From the very start, the track establishes itself as one that’s perfect for a day at the beach.

The jovial ukulele strums lead you to bounce into the smooth vocals of Judd Harris. The lyrical aesthetic offsets the aesthetic of the sunny strumming, hitting you with the line “How do you feel at the end of the dag? Workin’ so hard for so little play?” After setting up the mood, the drums and bass arrive on the scene to double down on the sunny instrumental aesthetic. The drums enter with a crash, then mellow out while the other instruments jam. The bouncy bass adds a playful aspect to the personality of “Take Me Down” and is easy to move your head to once you notice it.

The beat is easy to get lost in and while the track hits you hard lyrically at the beginning, the catchy chorus and other lines such as “a boat ride away from the mainland. Frozen concoction in your hand,” allow the track to evolve into its bright instrumental aesthetic. This growth from the unsympathetic intro gives the track a palpable feeling of escape and leaving your worries behind. The bongo solo that accompanies the chorus starting just before the 3 minute mark is the perfect touch to outro refrain, giving it a very memorable quality.

“Take Me Down” is a track that instantly makes an impression. The smooth vocals of Judd Harris compliment the sunny instrumentals, with a lyrical aesthetic that feels like a sweet escape. The track is full of memorable sounds and instrumental cues, making it a dynamic track that isn’t one you’ll likely skip on a playlist. “Take Me Down” is a fantastic track for anyone looking for a nice, relaxing song that feels like a calm getaway.
