Review Fix Exclusive: Brian Alejandro Talks Autumn Changes And More

Review Fix chats with Brian Alejandro about his new production this September and more.

Review Fix: What was your inspiration behind this particular project?

Brian Alejandro: I love the four seasons and with each season I feel a new and different energy, Fall and winter happen to be my favorites because I was born in December. One of my favorite albums is by Donna Summer and is called ” Four Seasons of Love,”  those songs made me think about how we change with each season, and yet some things stay the same, maybe it is our perspective and sagacity that makes it appear different to us as times goes by. Those seasons come every year and it gives us another year for growth and another year to spread love.

Review Fix: What’s your creative process like?

Alejandro: I usually hear a song and write it down with no real intention of performing it, but it is usually a song that makes me feel good and stays in my head. I listen to the instrumentation and mood and then the vocals and the lyrics and how they all intertwine. Then I look at the key and see if it suits not only my voice but my entire mien. Then I begin to dream about it each night and envision different scenarios on my delivery, the audience, my wardrobe, and my conversations with the audience. I ask myself, “What are you trying to say with this song?”

Review Fix: What did you learn/are learning about yourself through this process/production?

Alejandro: I have learned and am still learning that I do not have to be so hard on myself and perfect every time. I do not have to please people but my goal is always to make them happy for an hour to two hours. I also acknowledge that having been born in the UK and despite the fact I have lived in the US for a long time, I still have friends and family there and I always go back. frequently to be revitalised.  Once I admitted that I will never lose the British part of me and that I could embrace the US part of me without compromising who I am and allow myself to be my “authentic self” I felt free! As the great Josephine Baker sang “J’ui Deux Amours”  I realize that there is no one else like me and I should embrace that!

Review Fix: What are your ultimate goals for this for the future?

Alejandro: I would love to have a manager who knows how to manage me, guide me,  believes in me, and keeps me working in various venues so that I can continue to pay homage to the many people who have opened doors for me, such as Sammy Davis, Gloria Lynne, Della Reese, Frank Sinatra, Johnny Mathis and countless others. In addition, I want to share my style of singing along with my stories about my life and meeting many celebrities to younger generations so that I can spread the love and let them know that life is not over at 45!!!

Review Fix: What’s next?

Alejandro: Again, I need to get a manager so that I can have more opportunities to perform throughout the year in various venues, ultimately taking it to a higher platform. I plan to visit my mates and family in the UK in November and they all follow me on YouTube/IG/TikTok and want me to have a concert there, that truly would be the ultimate for me and would be a symbol of the total “full circle.” Let’s hope that that is next!
