Never2Late – Love Is Wise Single Review: Rockin’ From The Heart

We live in a time of division. Today’s world feels more discordian than ever and even though social media and technology seek to connect us with one another, the road of tolerance and acceptance of one another’s ideals can be quite the rocky one. For SteveB, the musical brain and vocalist of his band Never2Late, it’s up to us to see the good in one another.

From the top, “Love Is Wise” lays down a drum beat grabs you tight. The beat will get your head bobbing while the guitar sucks you in. The licks from the guitars rock hard, with a groovy bassline that creeps underneath to keep you moving. The vocals of SteveB, the heart of Never2Late, are commanding as they enter the scene with a powerful “why is there so much anger? Why is there so much pain?”

The track rocks hard, with catchy guitar riffs and powerful drum beats that are hard to not move to. The drums do a great job of leading the flow of the track as they switch from an airy and mellow vibe that rises up into a harder-rockin’ one as the chorus kicks in. The bassline jams and shines during the verse just before the guitar solo around the 3-minute mark, pushing throughout the track to be something that becomes easy to get lost in. It gives the track a great flow with a groove that keeps you immersed in the rock and roll sound.

Lyrically, the track is all about unity and tolerance. This message reverberates in the chorus, with lines such as “if you look inside yourself, deep down you know it’s true. Love is always wise and hate is just a fool” and “live without excuses and love without regret.” The collective pain sung about in the track isn’t without an aim, as SteveB firmly states that “politics and religion have a lot to answer for. So much foolish conflict and so many senseless wars” are the root of the pain and anger he starts the song off with. The solution to it all is love and acceptance, as is emphasized in a voice clip from the Bertrand Russell 1959 interview “Face to Face,” in which the philosopher explains why “love is wise and hatred is foolish.”

“Love Is Wise” is a charming single that’s full of heart. The rock ‘n roll sounds are groovy but are never afraid to kick themselves into high gear with heavy guitar riffs and slammin’ drum beats that gives the track an undeniable edge. There’s nothing but love in here lyrically, however, and Never2Late’s vocals are never delivered with a harsh or aggressive vibe behind them. While “Love Is Wise” isn’t too deep or contemplative, those looking for a groovy and upbeat jam can’t go wrong with this one.
