AEW Dynamite Homecoming Coverage: Primer for Battle of the Belts

Great in-ring action as usual, but when is Dynamite going to do more than just kill it in the ring? If it’s just meant to be an alternative to WWE, fine, but it’s obviously not if Tony Khan has to actively watch and comment on what the WWE does.

Not to be lost here is Sting. The man is a maniac and the world of wrestling is a better one with him in it.

Matches:

Adam Hangman Page vs. Claudio Castagnoli: It took Page two Buckshot Lariats to put the former ROH Champion away. This was an excellent opener.

AEW International Champion Orange Cassidy, Adam Copeland, Dustin Rhodes and Preston Vance w/Jose The Assistant vs. Lance Archer w/Jake Roberts, Brian Cage, Toa Liona and Bishop Kaun w/Prince Nana: Copeland hot the Spear and the suddenly face Vance went over with the Discus Lariat.

Sammy Guevara vs. AEW Tag Team Champion Ricky Starks: Guevara won with a Rollup on a Spear counter in a shorter, but fun encounter. After the match, Chris Jericho and Big Bill got involved to tease the Battle of the Belts match.

Thunder Rosa, Kris Statlander, Willow Nightingale and Anna Jay vs. TBS Champion Julia Hart, Skye Blue, Saraya and Ruby Soho w/Harley Cameron: Of course Anna Jay went over here in the Brody lee tribute encounter. She looked great though getting the submission win with the Queen Slayer.

Roderick Strong w/The Undisputed Kingdom vs. Bryan Keith: Strong was dominant and won with End of Heartache.

Sting and Darby Allin vs. Konosuke Takeshita and Powerhouse Hobbs: Sting hit the Scorpion Death Drop though tables, on the stage. Insane. Allin got thrown all over the place. This was wild.
