The Sweet Release Continues on ‘True Blood’

TruebloodintertitleEpisode Commentary: “Release Me”

Easily the scariest first few minutes of any episode of “True Blood” this season.

The back story of Bill and Lorena [Mariana Klaveno] is fleshed out more as well, showing us a more sensitive side of the vampire. This side will appear quite different from the blood-thirsty monster he was in last week’s flashback and is more like the undead boy toy we’ve grown to love over the past season and a half.

While their sub-story is of extreme interest, the fact that Jason Stackhouse is having nookie with the increasingly neurotic and charmingly sheltered Sarah Newlin, while his sister and Isabelle’s pet Hugo are trapped in the basement of the Fellowship of the Sun is amazing. This alone makes for devilishly good television.

Speaking of Sarah, what will she do now that her allegiances have been compromised? While the answer to this may take weeks to unfold, seeing Jason continue to get himself in buckets of trouble is a reminder of the fun of the first season and provides the show with even more drama. What does the future hold for him?

Adding to the drama is the return of a healthy and V-selling Lafayette, as he’s another welcome addition to an already excellent show. His conversation with Eggs towards the end of the episode is hilarious and a reminder of what he brings to the series. Speaking of Eggs, he seems to be more involved with Mary Ann than anyone else thought. Can he and Tara find a way to escape her wrath?

With all this going on, Godric is still missing and Eric is trying to find answers. With the spy who was giving information to the fellowship exposed, can Bill or Eric save Sookie in time?

At the same time, Detective Balfour and Sam are trying to find out more about Mary Ann, who seems to have the power of a god. What does she have in store for Bon Temps? Can anyone stop her?

Speaking of strong women, Jessica seems to be falling in love with Hoyt? Can their relationship last?

Sookie’s friend Barry is also in danger of losing his life. Who abducted him? Will he survive?

With all of these questions pondering answers, the next week of “True Blood” looks to be another engaging and addicting experience with even more action than this past week.
