Sabin and Aries the Future of TNA’s World Title?

Since his return a few months ago, Chris Sabin has been on an absolute tear, capturing the X-Division title on two different occasions and putting himself in legitimate contention for TNA’s World title.

A former World Champion, Austin Aries too has made sure not to fall out of title contention. His recent runs with X-Division and Tag Team titles prove he’s a winner and with oodles of charisma, he’s not an underdog anymore. It’s safe to say his most recent tenure in the company has been full of ups and downs, but it’s easy to see he’s one of the best performers in the company who deserves another chance at the gold.

With Bully Ray’s run with the World Title and the Aces and Eights running out of gas, could TNA turn to Sabin or Aries to wear the strap? Even though Ray has proven the naysayers wrong with a more than respectable run as a heel World Champion, Sabin and Aries can have the types of matches that would get more attention than anything the dependable but unexciting Ray can put together.

Regardless of Ray’s dedication to the brand, Aries, the consummate indie performer who ran a hot streak all the way to the World Title and Sabin, the perennial but explosive underdog and longtime TNA star would go farther in showing how different TNA is from the WWE. The same way the Taryn Terrell/Gail Kim hardcore match a few months ago caught the attention of the WWE, Sabin and Aries could absolutely tear the roof off the Impact Zone. Similar to the way Daniel Bryan has been showcased lately on WWE programming, Aries and Sabin are capable of turning in just as solid, workhorse performances as Bryan.

You’d never think after all these years of being a big man’s sport that pro wrestling would show this much love to the smaller guys, but stars the likes of Bryan, Aries, Sabin, CM Punk and even Dolph Ziggler are proving that fans adore high-energy performers who leave it all in the ring. not since the days of the WCW cruiserweights has their been such a yearning for guys to actually break a sweat in the ring.

That considered, TNA may be better if either Sabin or Aries got an opportunity to be the face of the company. The days of the big man are officially over.
