Review Fix: What are you up to now?

David Fielding: I am currently working as a tech writer and also publishing short stories and working on my superhero novel. I am also providing voice talent for a fan made re-make of MMPR.

Review Fix: What are your fondest memories of working on “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers”?

Fielding: Working closely with Tony Oliver, the head writer and recording my lines at the soundstage. I enjoyed getting to see behind the scenes of what it took to put the show together for each episode and also what it was like to work as a voice actor. My character was only filmed once and I provided the voice of Zordon for the first season.

Review Fix: What did you learn about yourself during your time on the show?

Fielding: That I really wasn’t cut out for L.A. I found the city to be too big and busy, plus I was more interested in writing than trying to hustle for parts. I had gone to L.A. to see what it would be like to try and make it in the film/TV industry and I found out rather quickly that I didn’t want to pursue it… It takes a certain personality, someone who is good at selling themselves, and I just didn’t have that skill.

Review Fix:
How do you think it prepared you for the future?

Fielding: I guess it prepped me to have a thicker skin when it came to submitting my writing to publishers. To not take rejection as a personal thing, to make adjustments and edits when asked.

Review Fix: How do you want your role to ultimately be remembered?

Fielding: I think the way that Zordon is remembered now is exactly how I want him to be remembered. I have had so many fans tell me he was a force for good, a positive figure, someone who they respected and listened too. I think the writers on the show did a great job with him, and the fans remember him as a mentor and a friend.

Review Fix:
Who was your favorite ranger?

Fielding: I wasn’t on the show that long – my face was. I appreciate that my face was kept for the character for as long as he was on the show. If we had been doing the show today, I’m sure I could’ve kept providing the voice as well. Digital recording allows for more freedom and accessibility – you can record just about anywhere and then upload or email the files to the editing bay. As for my favorite Ranger – well, of course I have a great fondness for the original five, but I always identified with Billy the most, the Blue Ranger. Billy was like myself as a teenager, inquisitive but a bit dorky.

Review Fix: What are your goals now? What do you really want to be doing?

Fielding: My goals now revolve around getting published on a regular basis. I am writing a lot and getting some interest in my superhero story. So my goals are to get published and to keep getting published; to continue to entertain, as that is my gift. And one I enjoy sharing with others.
