Mediocre at Best

the-cleveland-showAside from a hilarious rap scene, where Cleveland Brown proves he can freestyle with the best of them, last week’s episode of “The Cleveland Show” was nothing to marvel about.

Continuing the trend on the show thus far, things are just weird.

In previous episodes, we’ve seen the writers attack Don Rickles and other celebrities, but this week, they try and address the topic of teenage sex.

What the end message is and what the point of the entire 21-minute show is still uncertain however.

Instead, rather than come to any type of funny conclusion [watching this show, you almost forget about what real comedy truly is] you’re forced to deal with several annoyances.

First off, the congregation at church has to stereotypically comment after everything the pastor says [even he finds it annoying after a while] early on and there just seems no point in it.

If that wasn’t enough, Tim the Bear’s comments about Jesus- that aren’t in the least bit funny, logical or comprehensible. And while anyone who knows anything about the NFL can appreciate and get a small kick out of a Michael Irvin joke, it’s not even close to being enough to get this show to tread water. It’s like the show goes out of its way every week to aggravate the audience with jokes that don’t work.

Sure, seeing Cleveland and his son spend time together and head to the comic-con is fun and some of the things afterward manage to save the episode, but in the end, the show still fails to cut the comedic mustard.

Overall, most of the characters are still too bland and too flat to capture our attention.

Makes you wonder how this show got extended for a second season.

Seth McFarlane just has it like that I guess.
