Narrows Community Theater, Inc. Looking for a New Home

Bay Ridge, Brooklyn – Narrows Community Theater, Inc. a cultural mainstay of Bay Ridge for over 39 years, will be losing its “home” at Salem Lutheran Church as of June 30th this year. They are reaching out to the community to help them find a new place to call home.

Salem closed its doors as an active congregation as of January 3, 2010. While NCT will continue to hold their major performances at St. Patrick’s auditorium, Salem is the place where NCT stored sets and props, rehearsed, conducted workshops, and held additional performances.

In spite of not having a permanent home, NCT has a proud history of producing two shows a year since 1971. In August 2006 they expanded their offerings to include a series of workshops designed to help members and the public enhance their performing arts craftsmanship. Since 2001, when, due to security concerns they were forced from their residency at the Fort Hamilton Army Base, they have moved six times. This, however, has not deterred them from continuing their mission to provide quality, affordable entertainment to the Bay Ridge community.

Anyone who knows of any available space, whether it be a church, community facility, or any affordable, usable space, can contact NCT at (718) 482 3173 or email [email protected].

NCT is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, incorporated in 1975. They are members of the Alliance of Resident Theaters (ART), as well as the Bay Ridge Community Council, Material for the Arts, and are a Brooklyn Arts Council grant recipient.
