Originally formed during 2002 in Sleaford, Lincolnshire, the 22-20s is an English rock group that has encountered a few rocky roads while attempting to grow as a team. Not only have they repeatedly switched up their lineup while releasing a few albums and an EP throughout 2003 until 2005, they decided to disband in January 2006. After a two year long break, the 22-20s rebuilt their crew in 2008 and then successfully delivered a new CD called “Shake/Shiver/Moan” on May 19, 2010.
When performing, current members; Martin Trimble, Glen Bartup, James Irving and Dan Hare formulate their own genre of blues rock.
22-20s’ recent single off of their debut album is called “Latest Heartbreak” and it’s definitely a bigger hit than most people might assume.
Taking the stage as front-man, Trimble’s voice is presented as almost creepy and mysterious, but it manages to fit the type of sound 22-20s are going for.
The background music that the rest of the band performs can be described as sporadic, blues-like and booming- extremely delightful to the ears. The drumming is simple and upbeat, while the hyper guitar riffs give such a tune a bit of flavor.
Though the song might be very affective for an uncommon English rock band from Lincolnshire, the over-repetitive announcement of lyrics might irritate those who listen to this track more than once.
Nevertheless, the 22-20s aren’t too shabby, for a band that has been picky with group members and has taken two-year breaks.
Hopefully, they’ll have audiences shaking, shivering and moaning with the remaining songs on their newest album.
