A huge card and entertaining promo this week on RAW continued to build the tension for what appears to be one of the better Summerslam events in years.
Check out this week’s WWE RAW Power Rankings to see who made this episode of RAW an entertaining one.
Honorable Mention: Rob Van Dam: A win over Alberto Del Rio on RAW this week cements RVD’s presence in the World TItle picture. Regardless of if he’s lost a step or not, fans still respond to him. He can still entertain. A 15-minute match between Del Rio and RVD at a pay per view, with the chains off, would be a blast.
5: Mark Henry: Ryback doesn’t want anything to do with Mark Henry – and for good reason. One of the most respected veterans on the WWE roster, regardless of his advanced age, Henry is at a great point in his career. A made man, it would be nice to see him WWE Champion one day, but seeing him in the ring, helping younger stars is just as entertaining. Ryback is at the point where he needs a legit win, one that can set him apart from his peers. If he gets it over Henry, the former Olympic champion’s standing won’t be hurt though. He’s a legend.
4: Cody Rhodes: With his trademark grin, Rhodes climb up the WWE mid-card is just beginning. Although he didn’t appear on the card, his continued embarrassment of Damien Sandow sets the scene for what will ultimately be a thriller of an encounter at Summerslam. All he has to do is shave that grotesque mustache.
3: The Wyatt Family: The promos Bray Wyatt cut before his first appearance established him as an up and coming star in the company, but his match at Summerslam against Kane can make him a star. Savvy and evil, Wyatt has the makings of a one of a kind heel. As Jim Ross said in an interview a few weeks ago, he’s a keeper.
2: CM Punk: The former WWE Champion is still one of the biggest stars in the company. His impending feud with Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman will come to an awesome conclusion in two weeks at Summerslam. Although it hasn’t gotten the attention on RAW over the last few weeks it deserves, the match will be a fantastic one.
1: Daniel Bryan: His killer promo on the show this week cemented his role as the best overall worker in the company. After his refusal to shave his beard, Bryan’s stock has never been higher. His angle with Vince McMahon is essentially what happens when a father tells his teenage daughter not to date someone. Those that didn’t love Bryan continue to flock to his side. Even with plenty of solid superstars on the roster, Bryan is the biggest threat to Cena’s title.
