‘Guitar Hero Live’ Dev Explains New Button Configuration

No more color buttons.

Replaced by two sets of three buttons, side by side, the new black and white system presents a whole new era in the series.

“It used to be about the red, green and yellow, the colors were always involved,” Jim Norris, Designer at Freestyle Games, told Examiner in an exclusive interview. “ But trying to wrap your head around the button and the position was too much. One of our UI guys was like ‘Just make it black and white,’ and we were like ‘You can’t make it black and white, color buttons is what Guitar Hero is all about.’ But once we did it, it felt so good that we stuck with it.”
