With submission specialists and tough guys on the card this week, four more matches are in the books. With some wild finishes, the sweet 16 is shaping up quite nicely.
Check out this week’s WWE Cruiserweight Power Rankings to see who advanced with just four matches left in the first round.
Honorable Mention: Tyson Dux: Although he’s not as flashy as some of the other competitors, Dux’s look and attention to detail made him an awesome opponent for Zack Sabre Jr.
5: Raul Mendoza: One of the most talented performers in the CWC, Mendoza lost to Kendrick, but much like Sean Maluta, proved he belonged.
4: Zack Sabre Jr.: His style isn’t for everyone, but his talent is undeniable. His next match with Drew Gulak will be a mat classic.
3: Brian Kendrick: Veteran craftiness sometimes succeeds talent and Kendrick’s use of the Bully Choke was an awesome example of it.
2: Tony Nese: His win over Anthony Bennett proves the former TNA performer deserved this shot a real long time ago.
1: Drew Gulak: With a nasty Dragon Sleeper finisher and a ton of charisma, the silent type, Gulak will remind you of Dean Malenko. If that doesn’t sell you on how good he is, nothing will.
