Review Fix Exclusive: The NaveBlues’ Nave Talks ‘Possess You’ And More

Review Fix chats with The NaveBlues’ Nave, who discusses the band’s original, creative process, goals and debut single, “Possess You.”

Review Fix: How did you get involved in music?

Nave: When I was  6, I heard Jonny B Goode and that was it, I got involved. Later in the years, I found the Harmonica and I started to play it to get the feeling of a blues sound and I couldn’t stop. With that came the urge to write my own songs. After all, blues is a feeling.

Review Fix: What are your influences?

Nave: WOW.., so many…but you can check out  2 of my videos: SEXY KISS – it’s an original, but a tribute  to Marion Walter Jacobs’  “Little Walter.”  Also my video for THANK YOU a Led Zepplin cover about a female pioneer on the red planet in the year 2100. They are 2 huge influences. Howlin Wolf: his band plays soft but he is so powerful.

Jimi Hendrix: Can hold one note and make it so beautiful…Oscar Peterson: unbelievable technique.

Sonny Boy Williamson: Great blues Harmonica.

Review Fix: Is there a story behind “Possess You”?

Nave: When you can’t say it directly to her, you write a song for her.

Review Fix: What was filming the video like?

Nave: It was great …absolutely great…all my videos are with Smau Media and I really appreciate their work. The real fun starts with editing… that’s were the magic happens for me. We had our work cut out for us finding the best shots that could give the song tenderness and power. I was very satisfied with the outcome.

Review Fix: What makes your brand of music special?

Nave: I want the listeners to answer that question, but obviously I’m trying to make the Harmonica more center stage. I don’t see bands with the Harmonica front and center and we are trying to bring new ideas outside the blues scene and hope it can be interesting for the listener. Take a look, have a listen and send me your thoughts.

Review Fix: Why do you think people should enjoy it?

Nave: It’s something different yet familiar.

Review Fix: How do you want your music to affect people?

Nave: I want people to be affected like  I was when I heard Jonny B Goode for the first time. When I heard Jonny B Goode, I stopped what I was doing to turn the volume up and smiled and thought it was incredible and interesting. I had to know who the artist was.

Review Fix: What are your goals for 2018?

Nave: We want to reach a larger audience by performing more and more. Hopefully outside or Norway. We want more eyes and ears to be exposed to THE NAVEBLUES.

Review Fix: What’s next?

Nave: We are working on new songs and a new album. The new songs we are working on are going to further deliver what The NAVEBLUES is all about. We are in the process of fine-tuning them in order to make them interesting and exciting.

Review Fix: Anything else you’d like to add?

Nave: THE NAVEBLUES is not the standard blues you know. It’s the blues you will come to know.
