Drifters is a manga filled with war and gore and is also one well-versed with solid pacing. Above all else, it represents the bloody onslaughts of war and the fight to conquer.
Despite its brutal depictions of death and war, the historical context, mixed in with its blood action bits make for an enjoyable read. It might not be visually appealing to the eyes of others, but it will be within your cup of tea if you do enjoy reading stories with violence. It helps build-up tension and sooner or later, you will be able to binge read the entire series before you know it.
